The third and final ODI of the three-match series between India and South Africa is being played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the national capital Delhi. Fans had to wait for a while with the outfield not match-ready. However, it did start much to the delight of Indian fans. The Shikhar Dhawan-led team opted to bowl first and the decision augured really well for the Men in Blue.

India bowled out South Africa for a mere 99 on the back of scintillating bowling performances from Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, and Shahbaz Ahmed. While Sundar, Siraj, and Ahmad took two wickets apiece, Kuldeep Yadav bagged four wickets. The chinaman bowler completely outfoxed the South African batters in his spell.

With only 100 to chase, India started their chase with one hand already on the trophy. However, the Men in Blue suffered a couple of hiccups in their quest to clinch the series decider. Their captain Shikhar Dhawan once again departed cheaply as he was run out. Ishan Kishan too could not survive long enough as he nicked one through to Quinton de Kock.

With Kishan’s departure out came the last match’s hero Shreyas Iyer. With momentum and form on his side, Iyer decided to take on South African bowlers straightaway. In the process, he almost got caught at the hands of Marco Jansen. However, the fielder faltered and Iyer was awarded a maximum.

The incident took place on the third delivery of the 12th over when Bjorn Fortuin was bowling. The pacer bowled a short-pitch delivery in the outside off-stump line to which Iyer threw his bat at. The ball flew to Jansen who tried to catch it. He jumped well enough to get a hold of the ball but lost control. Jansen tried getting rid of the ball as he was about to land over the ropes. However, he could not avoid stepping on one of the boundary cushions and hence it was adjudged a six by the third umpire.
