Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, went viral on X for an awkward appearance in Alexander Volkanovski’s corner before the main event championship match against Ilia Topuria at the UFC 298. The 39-year-old, who was wearing matching outfits with other members of Alexander Volkanovski’s entourage, hardly looked or acted the part before the UFC fighter stepped inside the octagon.
But, despite the presence of Mark Zuckerberg in his corner, Alexander Volkanovski lost his UFC Featherweight Championship to Ilia Topuria, who knocked him out in a brutal manner at 3:32 minutes in round two at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Topuria managed to force Volkanovski back towards the cage before he unloaded a right hook to end his long-standing title reign.
In the earlier stages of the UFC 298 card, Merab Dvalishvili was spotted talking trash to Mark Zuckerberg while he had Henry Cejudo in a headlock during their bantamweight fight. Dvalishvili won the bout against Cejudo by a unanimous decision with the judges' scorecard reading 29–28, 29–28, 29–28.
Dana White reacts to why Henry Cejudo didn’t get mic to announce potential retirement
The UFC President Dana White spoke about how UFC 298 was Merab Dvalishvili’s night, which is why his opponent in Henry Cejudo didn’t get the mic inside the octagon to announce his potential retirement. The 54-year-old stated that if Henry Cejudo wants to retire again, then he can do it at the press conference or someplace else.
Dana White said, “Henry Cejudo already retired. He did the whole 'drop the gloves' thing. Tonight was Merab's night. Merab went in there and fought the number three guy in the world, former world champion. He won easily... If (Henry Cejudo) wants to retire again, he can do it here (at the press-conference) or someplace else. You don't give the mic to Cejudo tonight.”
