With Spa Francorchamps done and the action now slated for Hungarian Grand Prix 2025, Formula 1 is back once again before the mid-season break commences. However, a bizarre incident took place during the second qualifying session of the Hungarian Grand Prix 2025 on Friday, August 1. While Red Bull struggled to pick up the pace in both of the sessions, the top honours where speed charts were concerned belonged to McLaren. But what was truly weird to see was to watch Max Verstappen, very much the current defending champion, throwing out a white-coloured towel from the confines of his Red Bull during that particular session.

The incident occurred when during the second Free Practice in which both McLaren drivers once again dominated the charts with Norris ahead of Piastri, saw Verstappen removing something with his hands.

What was the issue with Verstappen's Red Bull?

As it turned out, a white-coloured towel was being thrown out of the Red Bull, a strange incident in which Verstappen barely avoided being summoned to the stewards' office. But it has been confirmed that during some set up changes being made to his car, the Red Bull crew had apparently left a rag in Verstappen's car that had led to the strange incident.

More on the Hungarian Grand Prix that is ahead of us, free practice pace suggested that Ferrari's Charles Leclerc had the pace to put up a strong fight unless the exact opposite happens during qualifying; the Monegasque was third ahead of the twin Aston Martins, led by Stroll and Alonso in that order.

From a track perspective, the high-speed Hungaroring, one of the fastest venues on the track perhaps bettered only by Monza, Silverstone and Spa, has been the scene of countless enigmatic races back in the day.

From the race win, poles and podium finishes point of view, it is all about Lewis Hamilton's mastery at the Hungarian GP, though all of it could change this year given the iconic Briton's insipid form thus far in the SF 25, not the easiest of cars to extract a great performance out of.
