India made a remarkable comeback in the World Test Championship Final 2023 against Australia after the rivals posted a magnificent score of 327 runs on the opening day. Even after toiling hard, Rohit Sharma's boys didn't get enough rewards for their efforts and ended up picking only three wickets by the end of the opening day's play. However, on the second day, India bowlers sent four Aussie batters back to pavilion by conceding only 95 runs as the session approached its end.
While the players were 104 overs into the game, Indian bowlers sent Mitchell Starc back to the pavilion with a run-out on five. Axar Patel who came as a substitute of Mohammad Shami made a direct hit watching Starc just short at the non-striker’s end. Starc, who was looking for a quick single, perished to the excellent direct hit by Axar, and was forced to return to the pavilion after scoring 5 off 20 balls.

Notably, India are taking on Australia in the final of the World Test Championship Final 2023 at The Oval, London. While it is the second WTC Final for Rohit Sharma-led squad, it is Pat Cummins side's maiden WTC Final. Talking about the WTC 2021 Cycle, India lost the final to New Zealand. Meanwhile, when we talk about Australia's journey in the WTC 2021-2023 Cycle, they lost only one series in the entire series, and that was when they slumped to India 2-1 in the Indian subcontinent in March 2023.
