Star Indian pacer Mohammed Shami on Monday paid a courtesy visit to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath at his official residence. Sharing the pictures on the official X, CM Yogi Adiyanath captioned, “A courtesy meeting was held today at the official residence in Lucknow with renowned Indian cricket team bowler Mohammed Shami.” Shami missed out on playing the last IPL season due to an ankle injury and had to undergo surgery in March 2024.

Mohammed Shami lately has been struggling to meet the expectation of fans as he picked only six wickets in nine matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad with an average of 56.17. However, Shami came close to setting a new IPL record for the most expensive four-over spell in a match. He gave away 75 runs against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), falling just one run short of Jofra Archer’s record 76 runs conceded for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Mohammed Shami breaks silence over his retirement rumours

Recently, Mohammed Shami was embroiled in action after launching attacks on media reports claiming his inclusion in India's tour of England only on his bowling sustainability. Further, he also refuted the claim of his retirement. Posting a message on his official Instagram account, he wrote, "Very well done. Also, start counting the days left to say 'adieu' to your job, then see ours later. People like you have ruined our future. Try saying nice things sometimes, too. Today's worst story, sorry."

Shami made a comeback to domestic cricket, representing Bengal in the Ranji Trophy. He had some great innings throughout the Ranji Trophy, picking up seven wickets against Madhya Pradesh. There were rumors about his potential return during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, but the series concluded without any appearance from him. He was later included in India's squad for the 2025 Champions Trophy and went on to win his first ICC title as a player.
