On Friday, April 11, in match number 25 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are taking on defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. For the hosts, it was veteran wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni who walked out at the toss after Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out due to a fracture in his elbow.

Known for his calm and composed demeanour, the five-time IPL winning captain returned as the skipper of the side after 682 days, but could not triumph the toss battle as KKR skipper Ajnkya Rahane won the toss and elected to field first. In a notable incident at the toss, former India cricketer turned commentator Ravi Shastri, who brought up his usual epic style to introduce and welcomed Dhoni in the middle, addressed Dhoni as "uncapped".

During this time, the IPL presentor-cum commentator introduced the 43-year-old as “uncapped at the moment”. However, Shastri was correct in his remark, but what caught the attention was the wicketkeeper’s reaction. Soon after being introduced, MS Dhoni could not hide his smile, video of which has been making rounds.

Notably with the return of MS Dhoni as CSK captain, he became the oldest captain in the IPL, aged 43 years and 278 days. He returned after Gaikwad’s elbow injury, thus forcing the latter to miss the remainder of the season with CSK. It is to be noted that MS Dhoni relived captaincy reins ahead of IPL 2024 and handed it to the youngster.
