In the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 match between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars, the former’s spinner Ubaid Shah struck his teammate Usman Khan accidentally while celebrating Sam Billings’ wicket. In the match, Ubaid looked extremely confident and played an instrumental role in Multan’s 33-run win. The spinner bowled his four overs and bagged 3/37 figures. Earlier in the game, Multan erected a massive total of 228/5 on the board in their 20-over batting quota, riding on their opener Yasir Khan’s brisk 87 off 44 and Iftikhar Ahmed’s unbeaten 40 off 18.

The incident between Usman and Ubaid took place in the 15th over of the second innings. After dismissing Billings, both came together to celebrate the wicket. Elating in joy, Ubaid raised his palm and hit his colleague’s head. Usman, who was at the receiving end, looked completely stunned after the incident. Multan’s medical squad rushed into the scene to ensure Usman gets immediate treatment if he got heavily injured. However, the 29-year-old looked completely fine and served Sultans until the end of the match. The stumper also assisted David Willey to get rid of Qalandars’ skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Multan Sultans win their maiden PSL 2025 game

Defending a giant score of 228, the hosts Multan contained Lahore on 195. Batting first after winning the toss, Yasir Khan and captain Mohammad Rizwan delivered an ideal start to their team. Both stitched an 89-run stand off just 7.1 overs. Following Rizwan’s departure at his score of 32 off 17, Yasir took the matter into his own hands and pounded the visitors mercilessly.

In the final overs of the innings, Iftikhar Ahmed played some fine shots from his bat and took Multan to 228. Yasir’s batting brilliance got him the player of the match (POTM) award. Multan won their first game of the tournament after losing three initial matches in a row.
