The match 69 of the Indian Premier League 2023 saw the hosts Mumbai Indians defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets with 12 balls to spare. After achieving the victory, the MI players took a victory lap at the Wankhede Stadium to appreciate their fans who have turned up to the ground throughout the IPL season.

The players held a couple of big banners during the victory lap, which read, “Thank You Mumbai” and “Thank You To The Largest Family In The World.” The owners and coaches of the Mumbai franchise were also present there, namely Nita Ambani, Akash Ambani, Mark Boucher, and Sachin Tendulkar, among others.

For the unversed, the chief contributors in MI’s win were the trio of Cameron Green, who scored his first IPL century, the captain Rohit Sharma, who got a sublime fifty, and Akash Madhwal, who picked up four wickets in his bowling spell.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma, the captain of Mumbai Indians had won the toss and chose to field first at the Wankhede Stadium. His decision was proven wrong in more ways than one as the Sunrisers Hyderabad openers batted incredibly from the first over itself to create a 140-run partnership within 14 overs.

Vivrant Sharma and Mayank Agarwal scored 69 and 83 runs respectively, at the rate of knots, to put SRH in a commanding position. But then, MI picked up five quick wickets to keep them at a score of 200/5, thanks mainly to the four scalps from Akash Madhwal.

In their batting innings, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma constructed a quality innings of 56, with some belligerent hitting, to set-up the run chase. But it was Cameron Green, the Aussie all-rounder, who scored 100 not out to help Mumbai defeat Hyderabad in style.
