India’s ace shuttler and two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu on Friday, March 29 crashed out of the Madrid Spain Masters 2024. Sindhu displayed remarkable resilience but succumbed to Thailand’s Supanida Katethong in a nail-biting clash at the Super 300 badminton tournament.
The Indian athlete, who was one of the favourites to clinch the title after the withdrawal of Spain’s Carolina Marin, recovered after an early deficit but could not cross the line as she eventually lost 24-26, 21-17, 22-20 against the sixth seeded Thailand player. Seeing her bow out of the tournament after finishing as the runner-up last season, lost her cool.
The Indian international was seen smashing her racquet on the court after her frustrating exit for the tournament. She even received a yellow card from the chair umpire as a warning for the miscond uct.
