The match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans had a rather delayed start after Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to field first. Ahead of this, the defending champions had a special moment during their team huddle. A similar scene was seen in the hosts Kolkata Knight Riders huddle ahead of the start of the match.

Prior to the start, wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha honoured Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan with a special momento in a ball for his 100 th IPL match. The 24-year-old started his IPL journey with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2017 and was bought by Gujarat Titans ahead of their 2022 edition.
Varun Chakravarthy, who is featuring in his 50 th IPL match today was also presented with a special jersey for this feat. Ahead of the toss, West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine presented Chakravarthy a special jersey. Meanwhile, Andre Russell is also featuring in his 150th IPL match and its 100th IPL match for KKR skipper Nitish Rana.
Talking about these two teams, while the defending champions are placed at the third place with five wins from seven games so far, Kolkata Knight Riders are reeling in the bottom half of the points table. They are seventh in the points table with three wins from eight matches.
