The record five-time FIFA World Cup champions, Brazil showed the world why they are considered the favourites to lift the FIFA World Cup 2022 trophy in Qatar as they thrashed South Korea 4-1 in the Round of 16 on Monday night. Brazil forward Richarlison scored the third goal for his team in the 29th minute and performed his pigeon dance moves with his coach and benched teammates.

Brazil kicked off the game on a high note as star forward Neymar Jr. started the game after suffering an ankle injury in their FIFA World Cup 2022 opener. Vinicius Jr. opened the scoring for the  Seleção Canarinho in the seventh minute and the lead was doubled by Neymar Jr. with his 13th minute penalty kick.

In the 29th minute, Richarlison showed his spectacular ball control after the initial cross to Marquinhos was deflected by the Korean defence. The 25-year-old Tottenham striker controlled the ball on his head and passed to Marquinhos, who found Thiago Silva at the edge of the box. Brazilian captain then played a through ball to Richarlison, who completed the amazing team move by scoring with his left foot.

Richarlison performed a knee slide towards the corner and celebrated with his teammates before he ran towards his coach and performed his infamous 'pigeon dance', which was joined by his benched teammates and coach Tite. After qualifying for the quarterfinals, Richarlison had a post match interaction with Brazil legend Ronaldo Nazario and taught the two-time World Cup winner his dance celebration.

With the win, Brazil confirmed their quarter-final fixture against the 2018 World Cup runners up, Croatia on Friday, December 9 at the Education City Stadium. Croatia defeated Japan 3-1 in penalties to book their quarterfinal berth and the winner between Brazil and Croatia will qualify for the semifinals where they will face the winner between Netherlands and Argentina.
