Rinku Singh, one of the most sought-after names in Kolkata Knight Riders lineup, was recently live on Instagram with Shubman Gill, his former teammate at the KKR franchise in the Indian Premier League. They had a fun chat on the platform wherein Gill requested Singh to imitate the batting styles of some of the cricketers and he obliged with none other than Virat Kohli. Once Rinku was done with mimicking the Kohli flick shot, both he and Shubman had a huge grin on their faces.
During their interaction, Shubman Gill was also spotted gifting Rinku Singh INR 66666 through an online transaction for his incredible achievement at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Rinku had smashed five consecutive sixes against Yash Dayal to help Kolkata Knight Riders pull off an unlikely win against Gujarat Titans, the current IPL team of Shubman, coincidentally.
Both Rinku Singh and Shubman Gill also made their IPL debut in KKR colours in the 2018 season. They were together at the same franchise for 4 seasons after which the swashbuckling right-hander left Kolkata to play for Gujarat. In those years, Rinku didn’t get much opportunity to play regularly for Kolkata Knight Riders, unlike his friend Shubman because of competition for places and different roles assigned to each one of them in the side.
Meanwhile, IPL 2023 has been the best year in the career for Rinku, while Shubman is not far behind him either. The explosive left-handed batter has already scored 233 runs in 7 matches at an incredible strike-rate of 157.63 with two fifties for KKR. On the other hand, the GT opener has accumulated 228 runs in 6 matches at a decent strike-rate of 138.18 with a couple of fifties as well.
