In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Dharamsala on May 4, LSG captain Rishabh Pant again struggled to be decent with his bat. This time, he lost his wicket after scoring a lethargic 18 off 17. Chasing a massive target of 237 runs, LSG lost their top-order batters within the powerplay. Aiden Markram departed after amassing 13(10) runs while Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran got dismissed without getting a dougle-digit score.  With the team stuck in a difficult situation, Pant had an golden opportunity to step up with his bat to help his team fight back.

However, Rishabh Pant again looked timid and played some dot balls in the initial stage of his innings. In the eighth over, he stepped out of the crease to play a stroke towards the off-side against Azmatullah Omarzai but lost his wicket. The dismissal was weird as Pant while playing the shot lost control of his bat and catapulted it in the air towards the on-side. Noting Pant’s another disappointing show, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka looked unhappy.

Rishabh Pant averages only 12.80 in IPL 2025

This year, Rishabh Pant has averaged only 12.80 for LSG in the ongoing marquee competition. Appearing in 11 contests, he has scored only 128 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 99.22, with the best score of 63 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 14.

Lucknow aren't in a great position on the points table with only five wins and six losses in 11 outings. They will be required to win their remaining three games and advance to the playoffs. Pant, who has looked timid with his batting approach, will have to step up with the bat and help his side earn a spot for the next round.
