Robert Lewandowski has undoubtedly had a stellar year so far, scoring loads of goals and registering numerous assists. The Bayern Munich striker has been absolutely sensational for club and country this year, being the leading goal-scorer across all the top leagues in the world. He is currently in race with Lionel Messi to clinch the Ballon d'Or 2021 award with both the players expected to fight each other in a two-horse race for this year's trophy.
With just a few days left for the award announcement, Lewandowski has pushed his case further by producing a moment of madness during this week's UEFA Champions League action. It all happened during the game between Bayern Munich and Dynamo Kyiv on a snowy day in Ukraine. The conditions were just not feasible to play quality football and the players of both the teams were struggling as a result.
Best UCL goal of the season?
It looked like the goal would be scored only when someone makes a defensive or keeping howler. But what actually happened really left the world of football in shock! The deadlock was broken in the 14th minute, all thanks to a genius peace of skill shown by Lewandowski.
The Dynamo defenders had thought that they had averted danger when a low cross inside the box was well intercepted. Following that, the ball looped off in the air and it certainly did not look a goal-scoring opportunity. But it was enough opening for someone as good as Polish striker.
The 33-year-old got himself in a perfect position to produce an acrobatic bicycle kick which went past the opposition goalkeeper, giving Bayern a 1-0 lead in the match. It set up the match for the Bavarians, who eventually went on to seal the win by 2-1.

Notably, Lewandowski has now taken his tally to 64 goals for the year 2021. The striker also registered a goal for the 9th consecutive UCL game, which is a feat he has achieved for the second time in his career. As he continues to break records, he would be hoping to win his maiden Ballon d'Or on November 29, after he was robbed of the award last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
