Mumbai Indians (MI) veteran opener Rohit Sharma has talked about Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stand-in captain MS Dhoni ahead of the marquee contest between both sides in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 to be held at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on April 20. Both MI and CSK haven’t performed as per their reputation, but MI have shown with their victories in the last two matches that they can bounce back in the competition. However, they will expect their star batter Rohit Sharma to produce a solid knock as his bat has remained silent this season.

Prior to the match, Rohit appeared in an interview with Star Sports, where he was asked what’s the feeling when he wins the game against the opponent whose captain is MS Dhoni. Replying to the question, Rohit said you can never relax as an opponent while competing against the Dhoni-led CSK as the 43-year-old never gives up matches while leading as a skipper.

“He (Dhoni) has captained for so many years, won a lot of matches, bagged trophies so as an opposition team, you can’t relax. You know that even when you are on top of them (CSK), you know there will be a sudden move that will happen where you will find yourself under pressure. Something can happen. He’s not going to just let the game drift away just like that. There will be something you have to do, you’ve to be on your toes for 20 overs. While you’re batting and then obviously 20 overs, when you field also. 40 overs you can’t relax. Make sure that you get the job done. Until it’s done, don’t relax,” said Rohit on Dhoni ahead of the clash between the arch-rivals.

MI will look to avenge their defeat to CSK from from their previous encounter

MI will look to be dominant against CSK while playing in Mumbai. In their previous game in Chennai, the Men in Yellow emerged victorious by four wickets and kicked off their IPL 2025 campaign with a win. Chennai haven’t lost any game to Mumbai in their last four encounters.

Mumbai will keep their expectations high from their premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who looked superb against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) after making a comeback. The speedster along with Trent Boult looked lethal and registered 1/21 figures in his four overs.
