The Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians (MI) are taking on Delhi Capitals (DC) in match 20 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. While it was the DC skipper who came out on top in the to ss war and invited the home side to bat first at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 7. 

Although, the opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan provided a quick start to MI, a quick fall of wickets led them slowdown in the middle overs. But towards the end, it was Romario Shepherd’s last over onslaught and Tim David’s unbeaten 21-ball 45 that helped the home side post their second highest total in this edition. Moreover, Shepherd’s 10-ball 39 changed the gameplay in the middle.

Coming out to bat after Hardik Pandya’s dismissal in the 18th over, Romario unleashed his prowess, amassing 32 runs off the final over, which was bowled by South African pacer Anrich Nortje. In the final over, the Guyana-born smashed four maximums and two boundaries to add 32 runs on MI’s scoreboard.

Seeing Shepherd play a crucial knock, the MI dugout also stood up to laud the important knock. Skipper Hardik Pandya was also seen celebrating Shepherd’s last over heroics, video of which is going viral on social media. 

Moreover, it was MI’s third highest total in IPL history. While MI’s highest came against SRH in Hyderabad recently. Talking about the game, MI posted 234 runs off their 20 overs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with Rohit Sharma (49), Ishan Kishan (42), Hardik Pandya (39), Tim David (45*) and Romario Shepherd (39*) playing crucial knocks.
