Rajasthan Royals pulled off a stunning victory on Sunday evening against Lucknow Super Giants to better their chances in the playoffs. Valuable knocks from Yashasvi Jaiswal (41 off 29), Sanju Samson (32 off 24), Devdutt Padikkal (39 off 18) and all-around performance from Trent Boult (17 off 19 and 2 wickets) helped the Royals to win the game by 24 runs.
Post-match, Royals head coach Kumar Sangakkara who was highly impressed with the team's performance, lauded Yashasvi Jaiswal, skipper Sanju Samson, and Devdutt Padikkal for their valuable contribution with the bat. However, he especially mentioned Trent Boult for his all-around performance.
Every player cheered and acknowledged Boult's contribution by hailing him 'all-rounder'. Rajasthan franchise posted the video on Instagram of the same.
Notably, Trent Boult scored a blistering 17 in nine deliveries with the help of two quick boundaries. He picked two crucial wickets of Quinton de Kock and Ayush Badoni in the second innings, which pushed Lucknow to the backfoot.
Speaking of the match, the Royals posted 178/6 in 20 overs. They later restricted Lucknow at 154/8 with impressive bowling performances from Boult, Prasidh Krishna, and Obed McCoy as the trio picked two wickets each in the game. The spin duo Yuzvendra Chahal and R Ashwin finished the game with one wicket each.
With that win, the Royals have now moved up to the second spot in the points table, while Lucknow slipped to third. Currently, Rajasthan has 16 points in twelve games, while Lucknow has similar points in the table, but a minor difference in the net run rate has pushed them to third position.
Lucknow will play their last league stage game against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 18, while Rajasthan Royals will face Chennai Super Kings on May 20.
