World number 9 Andrey Rublev faced an upset against American tennis player Frances Tiafoe in the US Open 2022 quarterfinal on Wednesday. Frances Tiafoe defeated Andrey Rublev in straight sets 6-7 (3-7), 6-7 (0-7), 4-6 to enter the semifinal stage.
After defeating Cameron Norrie of the United Kingdom in the Round of 16 in straight sets, Russian tennis star Andrey Rublev fixed his quarterfinal tie against Frances Tiafoe, who defeated World no. 3 Rafael Nadal in his previous match.
Rublev had a decent US Open 2022 campaign and after his elimination in the quarterfinals, the 24-year-old Russian broke into tears as he was highly disappointed with his performance.

Meanwhile, Frances Tiafoe is having a dream run at the last grand slam tournament of the year by upsetting legendary Rafael Nadal and Rublev. In the US Open 2022 semifinals, Frances will face Spain's Carlos Alcaraz, who is currently on the fourth rank in the world, on Friday night.
On the other side, Casper Ruud of Norway is scheduled to face Karen Khachanov of Russia in US Open 2022 semifinal on September 9.
