Team India new Test captain Shubman Gill spoke to former wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik, who is doing commentary for Sky Sports at the conclusion of day two of the ongoing second Test of the England versus India series. Gill looked exemplary with his bat in the game and played an unprecedented knock of 269. With this innings, he shattered several records from his bat. The 25-year-old is now the third Indian to score a double Test ton on England soil after Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid. His innings is also the best knock by any India batter in English conditions. Gill’s 269 is also the seventh-highest individual Test score from Team India.

After recording several feats to his name, the youngster had a chat with Karthik at stumps on day two. In the conversation, he spoke about his batting preparation for English conditions during the latter stages of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. “I worked on a few things and at the end of IPL, which is very important before going into Test cricket. Looking at how things have gone so far, it is working for me,” remarked Gill.

Shubman Gill will want his bowlers to get rid of dangerous Joe Root early on day 3

England concluded their day two after scoring 77/3. Joe Root and Harry Brook are at the crease and Shubman Gill will want his bowlers to showcase their courage and remove both batters. Root can pose a threat to the visitors as he averages around 77.00 at this venue. Brook can also be lethal for bowlers as he is in stunning form currently.

In the previous Test, Brook scored a brilliant 99 in the first innings. In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj will have to utilise his experience and prowess to trouble England on the third day. Akash Deep and Prasidh Krishna will be expected to assist the 31-year-old.
