Rain, drizzle, wet outfield, bad light - These are some common reasons which can put a halt to Test match. Well, it's now time to add another one in this list i.e. Technology! The ongoing 2nd Test between India and New Zealand witnessed a rare situation when the umpires had to stop the game because of something very bizarre.

It all happened when Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Tom Latham on the final ball of 4th over and Daryl Mitchell walked out to bat at No. 3 for the Kiwis. There were still around 20 minutes left in the session and stage was set for an exciting battle between bat and ball before tea. But it did not really happen as predicted.

Bizarre incident at Wankhede Stadium halts play

The only clash that the fans got to see for next few seconds was between Indian players and technology. Actually, the spider camera at Wankhede Stadium got stuck somewhere around short mid-wicket region and was unable to move up i.e. back to it's original position. And the whole situation drew some hilarious reactions from players on the field.

Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav also went to check what was wrong with the camera while the Team India captain was hilariously seen telling the camera that it needs to go up so that they can play. The spider cam certainly got a scolding from Virat Kohli, much to the amusement of everyone.

The trio of Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat and Mohammed Siraj were also spotted standing in front of the camera, looking confused and puzzled as to what was happening. Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin was seen laughing at the whole situation as he also narrowly evaded himself from getting hit by the camera.

The off-spinner getting injured by spider cam was the last thing that he or Indian fans would have wanted from the whole incident.

New Zealand Commentator Simon Doull, who's present at Wankhede, stated that it could have either been a battery issue or a cable issue which would have prevented the movement of spider cam. However, the 52-year-old revealed that it had been sorted and the spider cam was back up in it's original position. Hence, the play resumed on time after 20 minutes of tea break.
