American sports TV personality Stephen A. Smith addressed the dating rumors with ‘First Take’ co-host Molly Qerim during the show’s Wednesday episode. During the Wednesday morning’s episode of the show, Smith and Qerim had similar colored outfits. It led to their co-host Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo teasing them about being married during the show. Russo told them, “Who said ‘I do’ first between the two of you?”
Qerim quipped in and sarcastically said, “Who said ‘I don’t?” Smith addressed the rumours after complimenting Qerim and said, “No! There's nothing going on. You understand what I'm saying? America's been lying about that for a couple of years.” Qerim joined the conversation and said, “You know what the funniest part is? People actually believe it.”
Russo then explained how people often ask him about Smith and Qerim’s relationship saying, “I get asked all the time, how’s the famous couple doing?” Smith then joked about how he and Qerim’s presence contributed to the program’s success. He said, “But here's the upside to all of that - they know my taste. So, therefore, they know that's a compliment to her. And, obviously, she has great taste as well, so I guess that's America's way of saying we both really really look good. It does mean that 'First Take' is not only the number one show because of our content, we look the part.”
Notably, Qerim was earlier married to the former ESPN personality and NBA player Jalen Rose and got divorced three years later. Qerim joined First Take in 2015 and stepped in for Cari Champion after she got promoted to the Sports Center.
