Former India captain and legend of the game, Sunil Gavaskar was joined by the other greats of the Indian cricketinf fraternity, including Dilip Vengsarkar, Ravi Shastri, Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and Diani Edulji during Mumbai Cricket Association’s (MCA) grand celebration. Notably, on Sunday, January 19, the MCA celebrated 50th anniversary of the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
During the glittering ceremony, while some of the renowned Indian cricketers shared their first visit to the Wankhede Stadium, followed by some dance, music, a laser show and cultural festivities. Just during one of the instances, legend Sunil Gavaskar was seen shaking a leg on famous Bollywood single.

During the ceremony, the 57-year-old was seen in a jolly mood as he was seen bringing up his impromptu dance moves on ‘Om Shanti Om’, along with singer Shekhar Ravjiani. However, the video of this moment is making waves on social media, Sachin Tendulkar was also seen singing the song after being handed the mic by the renowned singer.

Sunil Gavaskar, who was a part of the side which played the first international match on January 19, 1975, also hailed the stadium, calling it a “love at first sight” moment. Speaking at the ceremony, Gavaskar said, “When the Wankhede Stadium was built in 1974, our dressing room was downstairs. When we stepped into the ground for the first time for a practice session, it was love at first sight. Prior to that, we were playing at the Brabourne Stadium, which belonged to a club (Cricket Club of India).”
“But coming here, it felt like the home ground of Mumbai cricket. The feeling is always different when you have a home ground. I still get that feeling whenever I come for commentary. My chest swells with pride,” Gavaskar added.
