Pressure games take the best out of players. Even the best in the business feels that extra baggage when they know a wrong foot can knock them out. And thus, they try to be extra cautious. Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant was also clearly feeling the pressure of the fate-decider match against Mumbai Indians (MI).

Although Rishabh Pant the batter stepped up, the captain certainly was feeling the nerves. Pant made a couple of mistakes in the middle while his team was bowling and not opting for DRS in a certain caught behind dismissal was the one. In the 15th over of the MI innings, Shardul Thakur bowled an unplayable to the new batter to the crease, Tim David.

The MI batter also went feeling for the ball and it looked like he edged it. DC fielders and the bowler appealed loudly but the umpire did not look convinced. Now it was on Pant whether he opts for DRS or not. Pant certainly chose the latter. But he looked baffled when the replays showed a clear spike on the Ultra edge as the ball went past Tim David’s bat.

DC pays big for their mistake!

This slight miss from Delhi Capitals cost them big as Tim David went on to score 34 off just 11 balls and also took the game away from Delhi. David hit two mammoth sixes in Shardul Thakur's over to seal the game for his team. Overall, David hit two boundaries and four sixes in his innings of 34. Although he got out, his cameo set the chase for MI which was finished by Ramandeep Singh with a boundary off Khaleel Ahmed.

With this loss to MI, Delhi's IPL 2022 campaign came to a tragic end. Meanwhile, RCB became the fourth team to qualify for the playoffs. They will now play against Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator on May 25.
