Out and out fast bowlers are a rarity in India. While there have been pacers who have breached the 150 kmph mark on a few occasions, the Indian side hasn't really found a bowler who can breach that mark consistently and over a prolonged period. However, it seems like the wait for the Men in Blue might come to an end with Umran Malik.

In a video that is being shared on social media, Malik, who will play for the SunRisers Hyderabad in IPL 2022, could be seen bowling a fast and fiery bouncer at Nicholas Pooran in the practice session. It has been claimed that the first of the two balls that he could be seen bowling in the video easily breached the 150 kmph mark. Even Pooran could be seen a bit hurried on to the shot that he offered.

In a recent interview, the Jammu & Kashmir pacer revealed what former India captain Virat Kohli told him after seeing his skill on display. He disclosed that Kohli told him that if he keeps on working on his bowling as well as his fitness, he would be considered for selection in the Indian team pretty soon.

"Virat Kohli spoke to me and told me to work on my bowling and fitness. He told me to work hard and once you do that the India cap is not too far away. He said I will get my chance when the time comes," Malik told India.com.

Overall though, the 22-year-old has only played 8 T20 matches and has scalped 11 wickets at an average of 24.81 and a strike rate of 17.4. Despite being young at the competitive level, he has managed to make a name for himself through his raw pace.

SunRisers would hope that a great season for Malik culminates in a successful year at the IPL for the Orange Army. SRH will begin their IPL campaign on March 29 against the Rajasthan Royals.
