Unmukt Chand grabbed the limelight in 2012, when he guided India to the title victory in the U-19 World Cup 2012. In the competition, he led the side from the front and ended up as the highest-run-getter for his team with 246 runs in six matches. Noting his talent, he was compared to Virat Kohli, who registered the similar milestone in 2008 as the U-19 skipper. He became a part of Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013 but couldn’t do wonders with his bat. On the first delivery of the tournament, he got cleaned up against Australia fast-bowling legend Brett Lee and his infamous dismissal is still remembered among avid cricket supporters.
In 2016, he appeared in IPL for the last time, donning the Mumbai Indians (MI) jersey. However, he got a chance in the playing XI for only one match. In August 2021, he announced his retirement from Indian cricket at the age of 28, citing a lack of chances and a desire to pursue other route. On Unmukt’s journey, Director Raghav Khanna has come up with biopic movie titled ‘Unbroken: The Unmukt Chand Story.’ The film is produced by Riverland Entertainment and Tudip Entertainment and is set to hit the box office in September 2025. Unmukt also shared the teaser of the film through his X handle. His post read, “Unbroken: The Unmukt Chand Story. Not a success story— A story of broken dreams, lost spotlight & a fight to rebuild. Of chasing the game even when the world turns away. Teaser out now. Coming Sept ’25 #UnmuktChand #Resilience #Cricket #DocuFilm #OTT.”
