Young India Women’s cricketer Vaishnavi Sharma scripted history after he match-winning performance against Malaysia Under-19 in match number 16 of the Women’s U19 T20 World Cup in Kuala Lumpur on January 21. The 19-year-old became the first-ever player to pick a hat-trick in the Women’s U19 T20 World Cup. She registered figures of 5/5 as defending champions India U19 Women bowled Malaysia U19 Women for just 31 runs in 14.3 overs.

India U19 Women registered their second consecutive win of the ongoing Women’s U19 T20 World Cup after they defeated Malaysia U19 Women by 10 wickets. With this, India U19 Women almost confirmed their place in the super six stage of the tournament. For India, Vaishnavi Sharma shone with a five-wicket haul including a hat-trick.

Vaishnavi Sharma take 5-wicket haul as India U19 Women defeat Malaysia U19 Women by 10 wickets

Talking about the match, India U19 Women decided to bowl first after winning the toss and didn’t let the Malaysia U19 Women batters to play freely as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. In the end, none of the batter could score at least 10 runs as Malaysia U19 Women were bowled out for just 31 runs in 14.3 overs. Vaishnavi Sharma took five scalps by conceding just five runs in four overs. Apart from that, Aayushi Shukla registered figures of ⅜ in 3.3 overs while VJ Joshitha put one in her bag. 

While chasing a mere target of 32 runs, Gongadi Trisha smashed 27*(12) hitting five boundaries. On the other hand, G Kamalini remained unbeaten on four runs as India Women chased the target in just 2.5 overs without losing any wicket. Now, India U19 Women are to face Sri Lanka U19 Women in their last league match of the tournament in Kuala Lumpur on January 23.
