He had to be rushed to the hospital due to urine infection, and it was later revealed that he has clots in his brain.

In videos going viral, the 52-year-old was seen walking with the support of fans and hospital staff. The cricketer got support from Shiv Sena party, and even Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde. Not only this, but the 1983 World Cup winning team has also offered financial aid to the former cricketer, to which Kambli has agreed to enter rehabilitation for the 15th time.

Vinod Kambli will never regain his full memory

Dr Vivek Dwivedi, who has been treating Kambli at the Akruti Hospital shared the cricketer’s update on Vickey Lalwani’s YouTube channel. He revealed that Kambli might never be able to recover his full memory loss due to his brain clots. He said, “Yes, there is one condition. So, we call it NPH. But it will improve with the help of medicine. No surgeries are required. Neither further clots etc. Only with the help of medicine will it subside. So he will need a good rehabilitation. Rehabilitation means physiotherapy and nutritional support.”

Dr Dwivedi added, “Yes, there is a little bit of impairment of memory function also. Definitely, there is some impairment. Neurodegenerative changes are there. So again, with the help of time and good rehabilitation, he will probably start functioning normally again. But not like 100 per cent, but definitely he will achieve 80-90 per cent of the memory, that previous memory.”
