Following Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) six-run win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final, legends Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers hugged each other to celebrate the team’s win. Both Kohli and de Villiers played together for Bengaluru for 10 years from 2011 to 2021. Serving Challengers for 10 years, the South Africa legend notched up 5162 runs in 184 IPL games at a strike rate of 151.69. The two legendary players recorded several milestones together. Both also hold the record of most successful partnership of IPL with their 229-run stand against Gujarat Lions in 2017.

After Challengers’ triumph over Punjab in the final, both Kohli and de Villiers ran towards each other and shared a hug. Their bonding made fans emotional as well. de Villiers along with another RCB legend Chris Gayle, was among the spectators to watch the final game. The trio of Kohli, de Villiers, and Gayle won a lot of games for RCB but couldn’t bag the title together. However, after 17 years of IPL, Kohli found himself fortunate to win the IPL trophy.

Along with Kohli, AB de Villiers hugged Chris Gayle as well. Gayle, who served both RCB and Punjab Kings (PBKS), was seen in Punjabi attire as he was seen wearing a turban along with an RCB T-shirt. Back in 2016, when RCB ended their journey as runners-up, the trio played a vital role in the exceptional campaign.

Talking about Gayle’s batting numbers for Bengaluru, he smashed 4965 runs in 142 outings from 2011 to 2017. After serving RCB, he gave his services to Punjab from 2018 to 2021. After the IPL 2025 final match, Kohli, de Villiers and Gayle came together and shared their past memories in the RCB camp while talking to Navjot Singh Sidhu.
