Former India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Virat Kohli showed his dominant side in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 clash against the Punjab Kings on Monday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. After his heroics against the PBKS, Virat Kohli appeared to video call his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma and daughter Vamika.
In the sixth match of the IPL 2024, Virat Kohli smashed 77 runs in 49 balls as he single-handedly took RCB to a fighting spot against Punjab after losing early wickets. Following Kohli's wicket, Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror continued the onslaught and clinched the victory by 4 runs.
After the match, a video has gone viral on social media, where RCB opener Virat Kohli looked visibly emotional during a video call. It appears that Kohli was talking to his wife Anushka and first-born Vamika over a video call and the Indian veteran shared flying kisses and laughter over the call. Virat Kohli breaks another record during win against PBKS
With his half-century against PBKS on Monday, Virat Kohli (51) surpassed Punjab skipper Shikhar Dhawan (50) to clinch the second spot in the list of most half-centuries by an individual in IPL history. Kohli is now just behind Australian opener David Warner, who has 61 centuries in 177 innings. Meanwhile, Kohli also became the only Indian player to score 100 half-centuries in the T20 format. Only Chris Gayle (110) and David Warner (109) are above Kohli in the list of most half-centuries by an individual in T20 format across all competitions.
Apart from that, the 35-year-old Kohli has also shattered another record, not with his batting this time. During the match against the PBKS, Virat Kohli grabbed Jonny Bairstow's catch and completed 173 catches in T20 cricket. Virat surpassed Suresh Raina to become the Indian player with the most catches in the history of T20 cricket.
