With such high expectations coming into the season from RCB's Glenn Maxwell, the 'Big Show' certainly did not disappoint as he began the 2021 season in some style. The all-rounder, who was bought by the franchise for INR 14.25 crore, produced a moment of magic that even left his skipper in shock.

Maxwell and his reverse sweep

Chasing the target of 160 runs, RCB lost two wickets inside the powerplay. As the score read 46/2 after 5.5 overs, Glenn Maxwell walked out to bat ahead of AB de Villiers. The 32-year-old certainly looked like his normal self as his first boundary for his new franchise came after an audacious reverse-sweep. The Aussie kept on playing some brilliant unorthodox shots, much to the excitement of RCB fans.

Glenn Maxwell continued to wreak havoc on MI bowlers as he started to play with ease, with skipper Kohli at the other end. But it was the first ball of 11th over when the 'Big Show' actually announced his arrival to IPL 2021. The right-handed batsman used his feet off the bowling of Krunal Pandya and absolutely smashed the ball out of the Chepauk stadium. Virat Kohli, standing at the other end, could not believe his eyes as his reaction told the whole story.

Maxwell's RCB debut, unfortunately, ended a few overs later as Marco Jansen dismissed him on 39 (off 28 deliveries). However, the Aussie would be hoping that his brilliant innings on Friday would be enough to hand his side the first win of the season.
