Virat Kohli opened up on his bond with veteran Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma in his recent podcast with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The RCB batter also reacted to Ishant crying watching him lift the T20 World Cup in 2024. Notably, Kohli bid adieu to the shortest format in international cricket after lifting the coveted trophy with the Indian team in Barbados last year. After winning his first-ever first-ever T20 trophy, Kohli also became emotional and could be seen crying and celebrating with the teammates.

Watching Virat Kohli emotional after lifting the trophy, his childhood friend, Ishant Sharma who was doing a show with Star Sports was also left teary-eyed on live television. Sports presenter Mayanti Langar, who was also the host during that moment, asked Kohli if he knew about it. Reacting to this, Kohli said “I saw Ishant’s clip as well. He is someone to whom I am naturally connected with and absolutely nothing has changed.from day one. Regardless of what whether we play together or not, whenever I see him it;s exactly the same. I can share anything with him (Ishant) without any judgement. He is also a very special individual in my life.”

Speaking further, Virat Kohli also reflected on how he and all the other other members of the Indian team were emotional after winning the T20 World Cup last year. He also said how they have been trying for so long to winning the ICC trophy and had multiple setbacks in the last few years.

“We were all emotional about it because we were trying for so long, there were so many ups and downs. Personally, if you ask me, I had three back-to-back set backs in terms off ICC tournaments, including the 2014 T20 World Cup final, 2016 T20 World Cup semi-final which realy really hurt me and 2017 Champions Trophy final,” Kohli said. Further he also mentionefd about the 2015 World Cup and the 2019 World Cup semi-final loss and how the 2024 T20 World Cup win was special for him and the Indian team.
