For the unversed, the Indians had a field day with the ball in hand, bundling out Australia for just 199 within their allotted 50 overs, with Ravindra Jadeja being the pick of the bowlers at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In their run chase, India were 2-3 in the second over, but then, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul shared an invaluable 165-run third-wicket stand, to help the team get over the line without any more scares.

The BTS from the dressing room of Team India shared by the BCCI showcased the “Best Fielder” medal for the first ODI World Cup 2023 match. T Dilip, the Indian fielding coach lauded the efforts of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer in the heat of Chennai, along with their teammates, while some teasing happened at their expense in the background too.

Then, he was quoted as saying, “Something we keep speaking in our team is about consistency. It’s just not about one catch, one thing, overall, as I think, intensity, backing up. It’s not only doing your job, but also making sure that you encourage and keep the right fielders at right place. I think this one goes to Virat.”

The rapturous response from all the Indian cricketers for Virat Kohli showcased how valuable he is to the team, whether it’s with the bat or in the field. Meanwhile, when T Dilip went to hand over the new “Best Fielder” medal to the former Indian captain, he asked him to put it around his neck, before taking a bite out of the medal in a hilarious manner.
