Virat Kohli reached his first IPL hundred in the ongoing edition to guide RCB to an important win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad on May 18, Thursday. The opening duo of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis stitched a crucial 172-run partnership to virtually finish off the chase. After his all-important knock in the middle, Kohli was asked the secret to the success of the partnership in the post-match presentation.
Replying to the question asked by Deep Dasgupta, the Indian batter took a hilarious take. He replied saying that it’s the tattoos, adding that they call each other “Ink boys”. “I think it’s the tattoos. We call each other the ink boys.”
However, he later continued to shower praise on Faf as he said, “Having an experienced guy who's captained at the international level - it's been a beautiful transition for us coming together for RCB at the top and making an impact, which is so important.” The RCB opening pair completed 1000 runs as an opening pair in the Indian Premier League 2023 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have been a part of many partnerships including the highest in IPL history which came against the Gujarat Lions in 2016 where they scored 229 runs. Kohli and Faf have been prolific this season for RCB as the team sits at fourth place in the table with one game to go. They need a win against Gujarat Titans on Sunday, May 21 for their best chance to qualify for the playoffs.
