Zaman Khan, the newest fast bowling sensation from Pakistan, has lit up the Vitality Blast 2023, the domestic T20 competition in England, on July 3, Monday. The Derbyshire overseas recruit castled Jack Haynes of Worcestershire with a Malinga-esque yorker at the County Ground in Derby.

In the North Group game of the Vitality Blast 2023, Brett D’Oliveira, the captain of Worcs, won the toss and chose to bat first on a placid pitch. He and Jack Haynes gave the side a fiery start at the top of the order, scoring 45 runs in 3.4 overs, before D’Oliveira lost his wicket to Zak Chapell.
The New Zealand international Mitchell Santner joined Haynes in the middle to put together a fantastic partnership to take the Worcestershire innings forward. But their 72-run stand was broken by Zaman Khan on the fourth ball of the 13th over with a slinging yorker that shattered the stumps of the 22-year-old English batter.

The young fast bowler from Pakistan ended up producing a quality spell of four overs, giving away only 29 runs and picking up two wickets, but still, his team ended up conceding 222 runs to Worcestershire in their bowling innings. Mitchell Santner top scored with 64 runs, including four fours and five maximums.
During the run chase, Derbyshire were competitive in the first half of their batting innings with Harry Came and Wayne Madsen compiling a 72-run partnership. But, when they were dismissed in a relatively quick succession, the hosts were bundled out for 194 to lose the match by 28 runs.
This victory has put Worcestershire in third position, while Derbyshire found themselves fourth from bottom on the Vitality Blast 2023 North Group points table.
