Former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney has replied to the comment made by his former teammate and current United player Cristiano Ronaldo in a press conference. The Portuguese international had commented ‘two jealous’, on Rooney’s post about the Monday Night Football show, where he talked about his return to the Premier League.

While speaking at a press conference as the Derby County manager, Rooney expressed how all football players are jealous of Cristiano Ronaldo, except PSG and Argentina forward Lionel Messi. Rooney was quoted saying, “I actually saw that this morning and I’d probably say that there’s probably not a football player on the planet who isn’t jealous of Cristiano. The career he’s had, the trophies he’s won, the money he’s earned, his six-pack, his body. I think every player, bar probably Lionel Messi, is jealous of Cristiano.

The former England international had opined that Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford hasn’t worked well and had called CR7 old and a shadow of his former self. “You'd have to say no,” Rooney said when asked about Ronaldo coming back to the Premier League during the Monday Night Football show. “He’s scored, he’s scored important goals in the Champions League games early on in the season,” he continued.

“He scored the hat-trick against Tottenham. But I think if you’re looking to the future of the club, you have to go with younger, hungry players to do their best to lift Manchester United over these next two or three years.”

Rooney also talked about how CR7 is getting old and isn’t the same player from his early years. He said, “And obviously, Cristiano is getting on a bit. He certainly isn’t the player he was when he was in his 20s. And that happens, that’s football. He’s a goal threat but I think the rest of the game they need more, they need young, hungry players.”
