The Rohit Sharma-led Team India will open their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Wednesday, June 5. However, the Men in Blue look like a formidable side with the likes of experienced Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and many others.

Despite a star-studded side, the Paul Stirling-led side are not taking a backfoot and aim to come good seeing that they defeated defending champions England in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Ahead of this clash, Ireland batter Ross Adair spoke of the team’s preparation and eagerness to face the challenges. However, he acknowledged the strengths of Team India, but also quipped of putting up a strong performance by sending out a stern warning.

“We’re very excited as a group. We’re looking forward to getting out there in New York in the first game and taking the Indian guys on… We know how good the Indian team is and we don’t shy away from that at all,” Ross Adair said ahead of their match against India.

“But we’re as prepped and as ready as we’ll ever be and we’re hopefully going to give them a good game. We are excited about this group. They have a full squad of guys who can turn the game at any stage and we’re going to do our best and try to keep them as quiet as possible,” he added.

It is to be noted that India and Ireland have played seven T20Is in total, where the Men in Blue have completely dominated them. But recently, Ireland beat Pakistan in one of the three T20Is, registering their maiden win over the Babar Azam-led side.
