Punjab Kings (PBKS) opener Priyansh Arya shocked Chennai Super Kings (CSK) with his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) century in match number 22 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. Reaching the three-digit mark off 39 deliveries, Priyansh Arya also scored the fastest IPL century by an uncapped batsman. He became the eighth overall and seventh Indian uncapped player to make a century in the IPL.
Opening the innings for PBKS, Arya began displaying his action in no time. Facing the first ball of pacer Khaleel Ahmed, the young opener hit a counterattack, sending the ball beyond the boundary line. Arya reached his century with three back-to-back sixes and a four off Matheesha Pathirana. The young batsman departed after scoring a memorable 103 in just 42 balls. Despite dropping wickets on the other end, he smashed a 19-ball fifty.
