Priyansh Arya, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter, announced his arrival to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season in style with his maiden tournament century in just his fourth appearance at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. The 24-year-old brought his fifty off just 19 balls and then reached the three-digit mark in just 39 deliveries on Tuesday, April 8.

The left-handed batter, who was handed a lifeline on the second ball of the opening over, raced to 100 off just 39 balls and eventually was dismissed after scoring 103 off 42 deliveries, with his innings being laced with seven fours an nine sizes. However, he kickstarted his innings with a six off Khaleel Ahmed’s over, joining the elite list.

With a maximum on his first delivery, Arya joined the likes of Virat Kohli in the IPL history to hit a six on the very first ball of an inning. During his 42-ball stay in the middle, he also became the fifth fastest to score IPL hundred by balls faced, joining the likes of Chris Gayle, Yusuf Pathan, David Miller and Travis Head. The 24-year-old also became only the second Indian after Yusuf Pathan to smash fastest IPL hundred by balls faced.
