However, according to the UK Met department, Day 3 of the WTC final between India and New Zealand could be marred by bad weather. "Heavy showers continuing during the morning, gradually easing during the afternoon to allow some brief sunny spells. Staying dry into the evening and overnight. Maximum temperature 21°C," UK Met department informed.

After first day of the Test was washed out without a ball being bowled, play resumed on Day 2. India had reached 146 for 3 when bad light led the umpires to take the players off the field a little while after Tea. It was the third time bad light had caused a stoppage in play, leading to frustration among the fans. Rahane and Kohli steadied the Indian innings and the duo will need to continue in the same fashion on Day 3 to propel India to a formidable total.
