After luck favoured Pakistan and helped them secure a semifinal berth as South Africa were stunned by the Netherlands which opened the door for the knockout stage for them, the Babar Azam-led side played perhaps their best cricket in the knock-out fixture against New Zealand on Wednesday. The Men in Green were clinical in all departments at the Sydney Cricket Ground and on the day were better than the Kiwis who had been consistently in the Super 12 stage and had gone on to top Group 1.

After Pakistan beat New Zealand by 7 wickets and secured a place for themselves in the final of the marquee event which is slated to be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday, former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar shared a short video on Twitter wishing India the best for their semifinal fixture against England at the Adelaide Oval.

"Dear India, good luck for tomorrow. We'll be waiting for you in Melbourne for a great game of cricket," Akhtar captioned the video in which he further explains his desire to see an India-Pakistan match.

Notably, the two teams have already faced off once in the tournament at the same venue. It was the campaign opener for both sides where Pakistan dominated much of the proceedings but India came out on top in the end, winning by 4 wickets thanks to one of the greatest T20I innings by Virat Kohli who finished unbeaten on 82 off 53 balls.
