Premier League club West Ham United have reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Manchester United to sign their defender Harry Maguire for a fee of around £30 million. The deal is subject to personal terms and a medical, which are not expected to be a problem.

Maguire, who joined Manchester United from Leicester City in 2019 for a world-record fee of £80 million for a defender, has fallen out of favor at Old Trafford under manager Erik ten Hag. He was stripped of his captaincy this summer and has not featured in any of the pre-season games.

The 28-year-old England international, who has 64 caps for his country, is keen to revive his career at West Ham, where he will reunite with his former Leicester City boss, David Moyes. Moyes has been a long-term admirer of Maguire and sees him as a key addition to his defense. According to Fabrizio Romano, the fee is agreed upon between the clubs, with personal terms yet to be sorted out.

West Ham had an initial bid of £20 million rejected by Manchester United last month, but they returned with an improved offer of around £30 million, which was accepted by the Red Devils. The Hammers are confident that they can complete the signing of Maguire before the transfer deadline.

Maguire could become West Ham's second major signing of the summer, as they are nearing the arrival of James Ward-Prowse from Southampton for £25 million. The Hammers are also interested in signing Scott McTominay from Manchester United, but their £30 million bid was turned down.
