The UEFA Champions League 2022-23 will begin its group fixtures from September 6 as French league champions Paris Saint-Germain will take on the likes of Serie A giants Juventus in the Group H fixture. Ahead of PSG's UCL opener, star forward Kylian Mbappe has opened up on his relationship with teammate Neymar Jr.
Apart from PSG and Juventus, other major opening fixtures include defending champions Real Madrid against Celtic while Sevilla to host Manchester City in Group F and G fixtures respectively on Tuesday.
During a pre-match press conference ahead of the club’s fixture against Juventus in the UCL 2022-23, PSG striker Kylian Mbappe told reporters that his relationship with Neymar is based on respect. Mbappe said: "It is my sixth year with Neymar. We have always had a relationship based on respect, but we’ve always had hotter and colder moments."
"There are periods where, as you see, we are the best friends in the world and other periods where we speak less. It’s the nature of our relationship, but there is a lot of respect," he added.
Earlier, reports had emerged that a tension is growing in the PSG dressing room following a dispute between Mbappe and Neymar.
However, Mbappe said: "I have a lot of respect for the player that he is, what he represents and the importance that he has in our team. When you have two players with strong personalities like that, life isn’t linear. It’s true that sometimes things happen but it’s always respectful and in the interest of PSG.”
Talking about the UCL 20220-23, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan will face Dinamo Zagreb, Copenhagen and Red Bull Salzburg respectively in their group stage opener on Tuesday.
