The 22-year-old however misses the silver by 0.1 point, she helped India open the medal tally, becoming the first Indian woman to win a medal in shooting.

Manu Bhaker wins bronze in women's 10m air pistol; becomes first India woman to win an Olympics medal in shooting

On Sunday, July 28, India clinched its first medal at the ongoing Olympics Games in the French capital city of Paris. Indian sharp shooter, Manu Bhaker, who entered the final of the women’s 10m air pistol on Saturday, finished third, with an aggregate of 221.7, only behind Korea, who claimed the top two spots.

Arjun Babuta finishes seventh; qualifies in men’s 10m air rifle final

India’s Arjun Babuta, who had a rather disappointing outing on Saturday, July 27, overturned his last result to secure a place in the final of men’s 10m air rifle. Arjun finished seventh in the qualifying round with an aggregate of 630.1 points. On the other hand, Sandeep Singh finished at 12th place in the qualifying round with 629.3 points. 

Ramita Jindal qualifies for women’s 10m air rifle final at Paris 2024

After having a forgettable day on Saturday, July 27 at the Paris Olympics, India’s Ramita Jindal came out on top, earning a spot in the final of the women’s 10m air rifle final. Jindal qualified for the final on Sunday, July 28 after finishing fifth with a score of 631.5 in the qualification round.

Nikhat Zareen advances into R16 with 5-0 win over Germany’s M. Carina

India’s top medal contender at the Paris Olympics 2024, boxer Nikhat Zareen made a winning start, beating Germany’s Maxi Carina Kloetzer in the women’s 50kg category. Zareen continued the dominant run of the Indian boxers as she cruised past her German opponent with a 5-0 win on points. She will next face China’s Wu Yu on Thursday August 1 at 2:30 pm IST.

Samoa boxing coach L. Elika Fatupaito tragically dies at Olympics Village

Samoa was left devasted after the passing away of their boxing coach, Lionel Elika Fatupaito. The International Boxing Association (IBA) on Saturday, July 27 announced the tragic passing away of the Somoa national team boxing coach during the Summer Games. According to several reports from Samoa media outlets, the incident took place on Friday while Fatupaito was at the Olympic village.

Sumit Nagal crashed out of the Paris Olympics 2024 after a Round 1 loss against Frenchman Corentin Moutet. The 26-year-old put up a courageous effort but fell short, losing 2-6, 6-2, 5-7 in a match that lasted 2 hours and 28 minutes. India's next challengers in tennis will be the duo of Rohan Bopanna and N Balaji in Men's doubles.

PV Sindhu beats Maldives’ Fathimath Nabaaha Razzaq 21-9, 21-6 in Group M match

The two-time Olympic medallist, PV Sindhu edged past her Maldives’ opponent Fathimath Nabaaha Razzaq in less than an hour to kickstart her group stage campaign at the Paris Olympics 2024. The Indian shuttler faced no trouble in winning the game, 21-9, 21-6 in 29 minutes. It is to be noted that the two-time Olympic medallist has been drawn in Group M alongside Kristin Kuuba of Estonia and the Maldivian.

HS Prannoy defeats Fabian Roth in Group K match at Paris 2024

On Sunday, July 28, HS Prannoy, the 13th seeded Indian men’s singles player at the Paris Olympics 2024, started his event with an impressive win over Fabian Roth of Germany. The 32-year-old achieved victory in his first match in Group K in straight games 21-18, 21-12 in just 45 minutes at the Porte de la Chapelle Arena.

Indian women lose to Netherlands in archery quarterfinals at Paris 2024

On Sunday, July 28, the Indian women’s archery team bowed out of the Paris Olympics 2024 after a shocking defeat against the Netherlands 0-6 in the quarter-final stage. Manika Batra beats Anna Hursey in round of 64 at Paris 2024

On Sunday, July 28, Manika Batra, the Indian woman paddler, defeated Anna Hursey from Great Britain in the round of 64 match in the women’s singles table tennis event at the Paris Olympics 2024. She won with a scoreline of 11-8, 12-10, 11-9, 9-11, 11-5, to reach the round of 32 at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.

Sharath Kamal crashes out of TT Men's singles against Deni Kozul

India's flag bearer at the opening ceremony and veteran Table Tennis star Sharath Kamal kicked off his Paris Olympics 2024 campaign with a 12-10, 9-11, 6-11, 7-11, 11-8 & 10-12 loss against Deni Kozul of Slovenia. Kamal, at the age of 42, is playing in his fifth and final Summer Games and will compete in the team event later.

Srihari Nataraj and Dhinidhi Desinghu fail to reach semifinals

Indian swimmers Srihari Nataraj and Dhinidhi Desinghu were eliminated from the men's 100m backstroke and women's 200m freestyle events respectively at the Paris Olympics 2024. A top-16 finish was required for qualification to the semifinals, but the Indian duo had to settle for a 33rd (Nataraj) and 23rd finish (Desinghu).

The Indian army personnel finished second with a timing of 7:12.41, just behind Mongolia. Balraj on Day 1 however missed a direct quarterfinals qualification after he finished fourth in the Heat 1 of the Men’s Singles Sculls.
