Star Indian batters, Jemimah Rodrigues and Smriti Mandhana on Sunday, September 1 were announced in the list of Women’s Big Bash league (WBBL) 2024-25 draft picks. The two Indian batters were among the six Indians to feature in the WBBL 10 draft picks for the upcoming edition of the T20 tournament. Apart from Jemimah Rodrigues, Shikha Pandey will be a part of the Brisbane Heat, while Deepti Sharma and Yastika Bhatia (Melbourne Stars), Dayalan Hemalatha (Perth Scorchers) are the other players from India, who will be playing the 2024 season of the WBBL.

On Saturday, August 31, Joe Root surpassed his former teammate Alastair Cook to score the most hundreds for England in Test cricket. During the second Test of the series at Lord’s in London, he completed his 34th hundred in the longest format of the game, to help England set-up a massive target of 483 runs for Sri Lanka.
