While the Indian as well as the England side has resumed their practices ahead of the third Test in Rajkot, West Indies tour of Australia culminated with the visitors registering a consolation win in Perth on Tuesday, February 13. While the Aussie had clinched the T20I series, Andre Russell and Sherfane Rutherford’s brilliant display with the bat and 139-run stand, helped them seal the win by 37 runs in the final T20I. However, Sri Lanka has already clinched the ODI series, they will host Afghanistan in the final ODI in Pallekele, before they move to the T20I leg.

Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan 3rd ODI

Kusal Mendis-led Sri Lanka will host the Hashmatullah Shahidi’s Afghanistan in the third and final ODI of the three-match series. The match is scheduled to commence at 2:30 p.m. IST at the Pellekele International Cricket Stadium in Pellekele. While the hosts have already clinched the series 2-0, the visitors will aim to register a consolation win as they take on the Afghans on Wednesday, February 14. 

ILT20 2024: MI Emirates vs Gulf Giants

Kieron Pollard-led MI Emirates will take on James Vince’s Gulf Giants in the Qualifier 1 of ILT20 2024. The match is scheduled to be held at 8:00 p.m. IST at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Speaking of the points table, while the MI Emirates finished at the top in the points table, the Giants secured a second-place finish.

Andre Russell and Sherfane Rutherford star as West Indies register consolation win in T20I series vs Australia

Andre Russell’s 71 off 29 balls and his match-defining 139-run stand with Sherfane Rutherford (67* off 40) alongside Roston Chase’s all-round brilliance, helped West Indies register a 37-run win over Australia in the final T20I of the series in Perth. The result gave the visitors a consolatory win to conclude the tour of Australia. 

David Warner confirms playing final international match in Australia

On Tuesday, February 13, David Warner confirmed that he has played his last international match in Australia after turning up in the third and final T20I of the series against West Indies. The 37-year-old played a highly enterprising inning of 81 in pursuit of the 22-run target against West Indies, but despite that the hosts lost by 37 runs.

Sri Lanka name 16-member squad for Afghanistan T20Is

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on February 12 announced its 16-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan. While the side will be led by Wanindu Hasaranga with Charith Asalanka being named his deputy, Dushmantha Chameera will not feature as he is recovering from the injury,  he sustained in the ODI series. Moreover, Binura Fernando has been named his replacement.

The Indian cricket community was left mourning on Tuesday, 13th February, when the longest-living Test cricketer Dattajirao Gaekwad breathed his last at his Baroda residence after fighting with age-related ailments. One of the greats of the game, Gaekwad, who represented India in 11 Test matches in a span of nine years, passed away at the age of 95.
