The hosts locked horns with Sri Lanka in the 33rd match of the ICC masterpiece at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in a World Cup 2011 final rematch. The two-time champions batted first and posted a massive total of 357 runs on the scoreboard. Mohammed Siraj's three-wicket haul and Mohammed Shami's five-wicket haul took the fans back to the Asia Cup 2023 final and helped India post a huge victory by 302 runs and become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals.

- Delhi vs Vidarbha: Yash Dull's Delhi defeated Atharva Taide-led Vidarbha on Thursday by 39 runs at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur. Anuj Rawat and Yash Dull helped Delhi post 176 runs on the board while batting first. During the chase, no batter except Shubham Dube (44) was effective against Delhi's bowlers.
- Kerala vs Assam: Riyan Parag-led Assam defeated Sanju Samson's Kerala by six wickets with 17 balls remaining. The 2nd quarter-final match in the SMAT 2023 between Kerala and Assam was played in Mohali on Thursday.

While the five-time ODI World Cup champions were recovering from the injury setback, they suffered another major blow as Mitchell Marsh flew home on Wednesday citing personal reasons, and is out of the World Cup indefinitely.

After Matt Henry suffered a hamstring injury during the recent ODI World Cup 2023 outing against South Africa in Pune, New Zealand called in Kyle Jamieson as a cover for him on Wednesday, November 1. The 28-year-old is reportedly scheduled to arrive in Bengaluru on Thursday, ahead of the upcoming clash for New Zealand against Pakistan on Saturday, November 4, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in the flagship tournament.
