The 2019 ODI World Cup runners-up, New Zealand continued their strong form in the ongoing World Cup and clinched the top spot in the standings with a perfect record in four matches. On the other hand, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023 will resume its fixtures on Thursday, October 19.

Team India, who are currently unbeaten in the ODI World Cup 2023 are scheduled to take on their Asian rivals Bangladesh, who are at the sixth spot. The 17th match in the World Cup between India and Bangladesh will be played at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Thursday at 02:00 p.m. IST.

New Zealand completed their fourth straight win in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 after defeating Afghanistan by 149 runs in Chennai. Batting first, the Kiwis had a shaky start with Devon Conway getting out early. But a few dropped catches helped the Kiwi crawl back and post a massive 288-run total as Glenn Philips, Tom Latham, and Will Young scored fifties. In the bowling department,  Mitchell Santner and Lockie Ferguson picked up three wickets each to bowl out Afghanistan at 139 runs in 35 overs.

Call on Shakib Al Hasan’s fitness to be taken on matchday, confirms Bangladesh coach

Although the Men in Blue have seen the return of Shubman Gill, the Bangladesh team have a sign of worry as their skipper, Shakib Al Hasan had a slight quad tear in their last match of the CWC 2023. Speaking ahead of the match, Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha said that Shakib had a good batting session on Tuesday but the scan results are still awaited.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes will be playing his first match in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 against South Africa in Mumbai. The Three Lions have had a poor start in the World Cup with two losses from the first three games and missed the services of Stokes due to a hip injury. England’s head coach Matthew Mott gave an update on Stokes, saying the team is “confident” he would play against the Proteas.
