On Sunday, April 7, Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by 29 runs in the 20th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The key difference makers for MI in registering their first win of the IPL 2024 season were the likes of Tim David, Romario Shepherd, and Jasprit Bumrah. Impressive unbeaten cameos from Tim David  (45-off-21)  and Romario Shepherd (39-off-10) propelled MI to a massive score of 234/5. After Prithvi Shaw's 66 in 40 balls, Tristan Stubbs, who had walked in at number four, scored 71 unbeaten off just 25 balls with three fours and seven maximums, but his contribution wasn’t enough as Mumbai Indians managed to restrict Delhi Capitals to 205/8.

The Lucknow Super Giants defeated the Gujarat Titans for the first time in IPL history after registering a 33-run victory. Since the inception of both franchises, Gujarat has dominated this contest and won four straight games over the 2022 and 2023 seasons. After winning the toss, Lucknow chose to bat and scored 163 runs at a loss of five wickets as Marcus Stoinis scored 58 followed by KL Rahul (33) and Nicholas Pooran (32*).
