Abandoned Ajax v Feyenoord match set to resume on Wednesday


The abandoned match between Ajax Amsterdam and Feyenoord will be be played replayed on Wednesday without spectators as per the Dutch Football Association (KNVB). The match was earlier called off after Ajax supporters threw flares as their team went 3-0 in the early moments of the match.


Frenkie De Jong ruled out for FC Barcelona until international break


Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong has been ruled out until after the next international break at the earliest after suffering an ankle injury at the weekend. The development was confirmed by manager Xavi. The 26-year-old had played every minute for Barcelona in La Liga matches so far this season before being taken out in the first half against Celta Vigo on Saturday.


Xabi Alonso tipped to replace Carlo Ancelotti as manager


Real Madrid is set to choose Xabi Alonso as their manager for the 2024-2025 season, as reported by Radio MARCA and confirmed in other Spanish outlets. Current coach Carlo Ancelotti is expected to leave the club next summer and Alonso is set to be his successor, per that same report.


Asian Games 2023:


India's Neha Thakur wins silver in Sailing


India's Neha Thakur clinched the silver medal in the Girl's Dinghy - ILCA 4 to bring the first medal for the country in a sailing event on Tuesday morning at the Asian Games 2023. This was also the first medal for India on September 26 and 12th overall at the continental showpiece. This was India's second medal on Tuesday, September 26 at the Asian Games 2023.


India win maiden gold in Dressage over China and Japan


The Indian team won India's first gold medal in Dressage in Equestrian at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. The Indian team comprised  Sudipti Hajela,  Divyakriti Singh,  Hriday Chheda and Anush Agarwalla, who won the Country's third Gold at the Asiad.  India finished first with  209.205 points while  China took the silver with 204.882 points and Japan with  202.383 points took home the bronze.


India men’s 10m air rifle team bags first gold; sets world record


India’s men’s 10m air rifle team comprising Rudrankksh Patil, Olympian Divyansh Panwar and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar won the first gold for the country. On the back of their stunning performance in the team event, the Indian trio of Rudrankksh, Divyansh and Aishwary also shattered the world record.


Formula One:


Hawkins becomes first woman in five years to test an F1 car


Aston Martin driver ambassador and former W Series racer Jessica Hawkins to be the first woman in nearly five years to test a Formula One car. The 28-year-old is a former British karting champion who was part of the James Bond movie as a stunt driver. She also completed 26 laps in Aston's 2021 car at the Hungaroring last Thursday.


Athletics:


Diamond League 2024 to kickstart on April 20, final to take place in Brussels


The elite international track and field circuit, the 2024 Diamond League, will kick off its 15-event schedule in April with two events in China. The season will begin on April 20 in Xiamen, and the Shanghai competition will follow a week later. The Doha Diamond League, which has historically signalled the start of the season, is scheduled for May 10.


Tennis:


Alexander Zverev to face  Roman Safiullin in Chengdu final


Alexander Zverev secured a spot in the Chengdu Open final after defeating Grigor Dimitrov. Zverev registered a 6-3, 7-6 (2) victory in the semifinals. Now Zverev will face unseeded Russian Roman Safiullin in the final. Safiullin reached the final of the ATP 250 event with a 6-3, 6-4 upset against No. 2 seed Lorenzo Musetti of Italy.


Rugby:


Fiji prop Kone Koroiduadua ruled out of World Cup, Tuqiri in


Fiji’s Jone Koroiduadua will miss the rest of the Rugby World Cup in France due to injury Jone will be replaced by the uncapped Emosi Tuqiri. The 22-year-old international will reach France later this week and join the squad as Fiji prepares for the Pool C clash against Georgia next Saturday.
