The Indians took down their South Korean counterparts So Chaewon and Joo Jaehoon 159-158 to find top podium finish. Both Jyothi and Ojas will compete in gold medal matches on Thursday, October 5.
Lovlina Borgohain ends Asian Games 2023 campaign with silver
Indian pugilist Lovlina Borgohain won silver at the Asian Games 2023, 75kg final on October 4, Wednesday. The boxer went down to home favourite Li Qian of China 0:5 in the summit clash and finished off her campaign with a second-podium finish in the continental multi-sport tournament in Hangzhou, the Republic of China. The 2020 Olympics bronze medallist was coming on the back of a win over Thai pugilist Baison Maneekon 5:0 in the semifinals. The win also confirmed her Paris Olympics 2024 quota reservation.
India clinch bronze in mixed 35km walk final
Indian athletes Ram Baboo and Manju Rani won bronze in the in 35km Race Walk Mixed Team event. The Indian team clocked a timing of 5:51:14min to find the third podium finish in the multi-sport continental tournament. Ram and Manju's medal was India's 70th medal in the event. China clinched the gold with a time of 5:16:41, while Japan trailed behind for silver clocking 5:22:11.
Sunil Kumar wins bronze in Greco-Roman 87kg wrestling event
Indian wrestler Sunil Kumar won bronze medal for India in the Greco-Roman 87kg wrestling event on October 4, Wednesday. The grappler defeated Atabek Azisbekv of Kyrgyzstan on points 2-1 to win the medal. Kumar lost his semifinal bout 1-5 against Iran’s Naser Alizadeh, after securing a win over Sukhrob Abdulkhaev of Tajikistan 9-1 in the quarterfinal.
Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu sail to mixed doubles squash final
Indian squash stars Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh made it to the finale of the mixed doubles squash at the 19th Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, the Republic of China on Wednesday, October 4. The Pallikal-Sandhu pair defeated their opponents from Hong Kong 2-1 to sail to the summit clash of the tournament. They won 7-11, 11-7, 11-9 against Hong Kong's Lee Ka Yi and Wong Chi Him.

UK and Ireland to host tournament; UEFA gives confirmation
UK and Ireland are set to host the 2028 season of UEFA European Football Championship. The decision came after Turkey officially pulled out of the contention from hosting the tournament. The UEFA, or Union of European Football Associations, gave an official confirmation on the same. The governing body will formally announce the new hosts for the 2028 as well as 2032 season after the meeting of its executive committee in Switzerland next week.
